Central Parkway YMCA

An adaptive reuse of the 1917 historic Central Parkway YMCA building.

The Central Parkway YMCA in downtown Cincinnati is a thoughtful revitalization of a historic 9-story Renaissance Revival landmark, reactivating its role as a vibrant community hub while adapting it for contemporary needs. Originally built in 1917, the project preserved defining architectural character as it reimagined the interior to better serve health, wellness, and residential life for the neighborhood. The lower levels now house updated, light-filled fitness and wellness facilities with improved flow and modern amenities, while the upper floors were transformed into 65 affordable senior living units that take full advantage of the building’s generous windows and downtown views. Social lounges and activity spaces foster connection among residents, and improved lobby and circulation spaces enhance accessibility and everyday use. This redesign embraces both heritage and functionality, knitting new life into a beloved urban anchor that serves a spectrum of community needs.
