Broadway Square Four

Six historic buildings in the Pendleton neighborhood rehabilitated for market rate apartments and commercial space.

The design team fully reimagined unit layouts to make them suitable for modern living while maintaining the historic character of the building fabric per state and national historic rehabilitation requirements.

Two of the six buildings were renovated only at the street level, which required removal of ground floor apartment units and updating the spaces for commercial use, including accessibility improvements.

A non-compliant and unsafe stair tower attached to one of four adjacent buildings was rebuilt to meet code and historic requirements. The rear yards of these four buildings were also renovated to create a shared service court for all four buildings and a secondary path of egress for three of the four buildings.

This project was aided by state and federal Historic Tax Credits and will receive tax relief from the City of Cincinnati for sustainability via Enterprise Green Communities (EGC) certification.
