The Wicks

A condominium project that achieves an elegant transition from commercial to residential zones.

New Republic was the Architect of Record and worked closely with design architect D-HAS on this pair of condominium buildings. The project provides a semi-urban transition from the single-family development of Vintage Club to the commercial district fronting Montgomery Road. The face of the building adjacent to the single-family residences is designed to appear two stories high, while the building face fronting the commercial properties is three stories, achieving a transition between residential and commercial zones. The location allows for a walkable neighborhood accessing traditional residential streetscapes to the north, and the commercial district to the south.

Dual three-story buildings each contain thirteen units and cap a single fifty-three space parking structure. Six penthouse units feature large roof terraces with community views. Meanwhile, ground floor units have exterior private courtyards to extend living space to the outdoors. The majority of units are corner units with ample daylight and views. The elevation composition uses varied window sizes and arrangements rather than simple stacks of windows for visual interest.
